Step 1. Create three zones
Create three zones for your closet – one for your day clothes, one for your evening wear and one for everything else. Try to have all of these zones unified in color, texture and style. Wardrobe Design ALLURE.
Place all of your everyday clothes in the first zone, so that you can quickly grab what you need in the morning and head out the door. It’s a good idea to start with basics such as jeans, shirts and T-shirts. Wardrobe Design ALLURE.
Step 2. Add storage
The second step in designing a walk-in closet is adding storage. Storage is key to keeping your space clean and organized, so try to put all of your clothes away as soon as you’re done wearing them. And don’t forget about accessories like jewelry, scarves, purses, and belts! The more organized you are, the easier it will be for you to find what you need when you need it. Once again, make sure that everything has a home – even if it’s just a drawer or stack of boxes on top of each other. You’ll thank yourself later when you can’t find your favorite scarf that used to have a permanent home on the shelf in your bedroom closet.
Step 3. Install lighting
Lighting can be added with a few key places. The first is at the floor for items that are stored above eye level. A second option is up on the ceiling for items that are below eye level. Finally, you may want to add more lights just inside of your closet door, which will make it so you don’t have to turn on a light every time you enter your closet and disrupt your sleep cycle.
Step 4. Finish with accessories
Add a mirror. This is a MUST for any walk-in closet design! You want to be able to see yourself and check your outfit from every angle. A full length mirror is best, but you can also use two or three smaller ones if you don’t have space. You’ll also want a magnifying mirror on one wall so you can examine your face up close.
Finish with accessories – grab some storage bins and baskets, as well as hooks and hangers of various sizes and shapes that will complement your clothing items in order to get the most out of your closet space!
