No matter how careful you are, your car’s interior will get dirty over time. It’s nearly impossible to keep your car absolutely free of allergens, but you can take steps to minimize the allergens that enter your vehicle and make it easier to clean if they do manage to get in there. Here are seven simple steps you can take right now to keep your car’s interior as clean and free of allergens as possible.

Vacuum regularly

One of the easiest ways to keep your car clean is through vacuuming. We recommend that you vacuum regularly, depending on how often you use your vehicle. One week, we recommend vacuuming every time you get into the car. The next week, only vacuum when needed or every other time you get in the car. This will decrease the amount of dust settling on surfaces and make for a more pleasant ride for everyone!

Wipe down surfaces

Steamgrønt is a plant that releases steam when it comes into contact with water, which can be used to wipe down surfaces. Simply get the plant wet and use it like a sponge or rag.

It’s important to clean the surfaces of your car regularly because dirt, dust, pollen, and pet dander will build up in there over time. You don’t want all that stuff floating around inside your car because it may make you or someone else who spends a lot of time in your vehicle sick. Plus, a dirty interior makes for an unpleasant experience for anyone who sits inside your car.

Protect against stains

  1. Using a wet cloth, wipe down your dashboard, seats and console.
  2. Spray the area with Steamgrønt or an allergen-free cleaner of your choice, then wipe it off with a clean wet cloth.
  3. Vacuum the mats in your car at least once every two weeks. This will keep hair away from other surfaces as well as reduce allergens (aka dog dander) on surfaces that you can’t reach with cleaning products alone.

Here are seven simple steps to keep your car’s interior clean and free of allergens:

  1. Steamgrønt is a powerful cleaner that can be used on the inside of your car in addition to the outside.
  2. Once you have steamed grønt, use a damp cloth or sponge, paper towels or even a rag with water on it then wipe down the dashboard, door panels, seats, floor mats and more.
  3. Do not forget about the steering wheel and gear shift!
  4. If you do not have any steamgrønt available for cleaning purposes, there are many other natural alternatives that work just as well (eucalyptus oil, vinegar)
Air out your car

Treat stains as soon as possible. The longer a stain is left on a fabric surface, the more difficult it will be to remove it.

Install seat covers on your seats if you want to save them from wear and tear. Seat covers can also protect against mold accumulation on leather surfaces.

Clean your interior regularly with mild soap or all-purpose cleaner and water (if needed). You can use a microfiber cloth for this task, which won’t damage your car’s surfaces like paper towels or sponges might do.

Use allergen-proof seat covers

A step that is often overlooked when caring for a car is the interior. It can be difficult to keep the interior free of allergens like pollen and pet hair, but it is possible. For best results, try vacuuming the seats at least once a week with a vacuum cleaner designed for car seats. Make sure you use an allergen-proof seat cover for your back seat so you don’t have any more unwanted guests in your vehicle!

Clean your car’s air vents
  1. Using a vacuum cleaner, clean the air vents in your car.
  2. Create a cleaning solution by mixing one part water with two parts white vinegar.
  3. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and generously spray it onto the air vents, floor mats, seat belts, steering wheel, cup holders and any other surfaces you might have not cleaned yet.
  4. Let it sit for five minutes before wiping it off with a cloth or paper towel until all of the dirt is gone from your vehicle’s interior surfaces.
  5. Rinse out your spray bottle and repeat steps 3 to 4 until all of the surfaces are clean enough for you to be satisfied with their appearance or odor (whichever is more important to you). 6.
